Partials, breakeven and manual closes
What happens after entry is where most followers lose the edge. This is how the account manages a trade, and how you mirror it in MT5.
The default plan
- TP1 hit: the account closes a third and moves the SL to entry (breakeven). You will see two replies under the signal: the partial and the SL move.
- TP2 hit: another third off. SL usually moves to TP1.
- TP3 hit: the rest. The close reply shows the volume-weighted result.
With 0.03 lot the thirds are exact. With 0.01 you cannot split: the practical mirror is close at TP2 — it captures most of the weighted result with one decision — or hold to TP3 with SL at entry if you can watch it.
Breakeven is not free
Moving the stop to entry protects capital, not profit. If price returns to entry after TP1 you close at 0.0R on the remainder while the record books the partial. On our record a trade whose net result lands within ±0.1R is marked BE — shown separately, never counted as a win. When you see a BE in the monthly table, that is what happened.
Mirroring in MT5
- Desktop: right-click the position → Modify → set SL to your entry price. Mobile: hold the position → Modify.
- Partial close on desktop: Close → change volume to 0.01 → Close. Mobile: hold the position → Close → adjust volume.
- Always mirror after the reply appears, not before. The account moves first; you follow.
Manual closes
Sometimes the account closes early — ahead of CPI or FOMC, or when structure breaks before TP. The reply says CLOSED MANUALLY with the reason and the result is recorded as MANUAL+ or MANUAL−. If you cannot watch the market during high-impact news, closing at TP1 before the release is a valid, quieter version of the same plan.
