Installing MT5 on Windows, Android and iOS
MetaTrader 5 is where the signals turn into trades. Install it from an official source, log in to the right server, and change two settings on day one.
Download from the right place
- Windows: download the installer from your broker's client area (Tickmill: Platforms → MetaTrader 5). It ships pre-configured with the broker's servers.
- Android: Google Play → 'MetaTrader 5' by MetaQuotes. Nothing else.
- iOS: App Store → 'MetaTrader 5' by MetaQuotes.
- Never install MT5 from a link someone sends you in a chat. Modified terminals are a known way to steal logins.
Logging in
- Open MT5 → File → Login to Trade Account (desktop) or Settings → New account → Login to an existing account (mobile).
- Search the broker name and pick the live server shown in your broker welcome email (for Tickmill it looks like Tickmill-Live). Demo servers have 'Demo' in the name.
- Enter the account number and the trader (master) password from the welcome email. Not the investor password — that one is read-only.
- Tick 'Save password' only on a device that is yours and locked with a PIN or biometrics.
Your MT5 password stays with you. XAUPROOF will never ask for it — not the master password, not the investor password. Anyone who does is not us.
Two settings to change on day one
- Show trade levels on the chart. Desktop: Tools → Options → Charts → Show trade levels. Mobile: chart settings → Trade levels. You will see your entry, SL and TP as lines — essential for checking that what you placed matches the signal.
- Confirm every order. Keep one-click trading off until you have followed at least twenty signals. One accidental click at 0.10 lot instead of 0.01 costs more than a month of good trades.
Find your account number
Desktop: top of the Navigator panel, or File → Login. Mobile: Settings → Accounts — the number next to the broker name. This is the number you add in your XAUPROOF account panel.
Time zone
MT5 shows the broker's server time, and so do we — every timestamp on this site and in the channel is MT5 server time. Do not convert; compare directly.
Adding XAUUSD to Market Watch
Desktop: right-click Market Watch → Symbols → search XAUUSD → Show. Mobile: Quotes → + → search XAUUSD. If your broker lists it as GOLD or XAUUSD.r, the contract is the same; the suffix just marks the account type.
